Increasingly popular are large openings in walls and bifold-doors, often spans of 7m (23') or more. The problems associated with these structures is that they want to sag and sway. hemis has the experience and engineering skills to design the structure required to construct wide-openings and to control the amount of sway and sag.

Wide opening require a steel-frame, often referred to as a moment-frame or goal-posts, which may involve having steel-columns bolted to a foundation or a masonry pier tied to the existing structure. hemis will prepare detailed drawings on how to build the steel-frame and how the frame will join with the rest of the structure so that any steel will not be visible. hemis prepare all fabrication drawings required to construct the steel-frame including connections and padstones if required.

All drawings and calculations are suitable for builders to use and for Building Control approval. If requested, hemis would submit the drawings to the local Building Control Office and act as your Agent throughout the project.
