Drainage and Foundations
Foundations often require checking when subjected to high-loads or are to be constructed in weak soil. The work often requires the weight of the building to be calculated and a detailed analysis of the loads to be applied at foundation-level. hemis has the experience and structural knowledge to calculate the widths and depths of the foundations or to provide this information for a piling-company.

Drains, particularly in houses of multiple-occupancy or flats, have to be sized for flow and constructed so that they do not block easily and may be cleaned with little disruption to the building occupants. hemis would provide drawings and calculations to show the layout, cleaning and diameter of the drains and invert-levels of swept-bends, inspection-chambers and manholes.

Rainwater has to be disposed of on the land that the building occupies. This normally involves a soakaway and occasionally a storage-tank or a deep bore-hole to manage the rainwater. hemis prepare rainwater calculations in accordance with BRE 365 including advising on how to gather the information required for the calculations (soakage test for example).

All drawings and calculations are suitable for Building Control approval. If requested, hemis would submit the drawings to the local Building Control Office and act as your Agent throughout the project.
